For Today - September 13, 2008 - Saturday

Outside My Window… wind. Wind & rain. And some shingles on the ground. It's 8:19 & the worst of it will be between 2 - 7 PM. Oh my.

I am thinking… that I wish my man were home w/me.

I am thankful for… getting shower before electricity went out.

From the kitchen… Spaghetti; clean dishes; yogurt; & lots of fruit. Don't have to cook fruit!

I am wearing… That comfy chenille robe.

I am creating… a stack of things to take to Florida.

I am going… to hunker down & stay put. Might as well enjoy the day as much as possible. The trouble w/losing the electricity so early in the storm, is that it will get very hot very fast & no way can we open doors & windows 'cause of the torrential downpour.

I am reading… "Boundaries" & the Bible. Finally am in Jeremiah!

I am hoping… that Hearthstone will soon get full power.

I am hearing… Wind. More wind. Wind & rain hitting the windows.

Around the house… Quiet inside. No fan. No dishwasher, dryer, TV, etc. But the clock ticks on!

One of my favorite things…Air conditioning.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Pack for Florida & continue making piles of things to take. Only 50# suitcase per passenger & each one carry on. Debby wants me to bring quilt she made for me. Hoping there's enough room.

For Today - September 12, 2008 - Friday

Outside My Window… humidity & lots of busy-ness in town as people pass through, evacuating north because of Ike.

I am thinking… how I hope & pray our electricity stays on. I'm not afraid of wind nor rain but am so dependent on electricity! And we lose it so very, very easily...the main drawback of living in a rural area.

I am thankful for… my hubby going out at 4:30 AM to fill up the van.

From the kitchen… scrambled eggs w/grilled veggies, toast & jam. And coffee.

I am wearing… shiny turquoise nightshirt

I am creating… more photo organization than I've ever had!

I am going… to Jacksonville to pick up coop produce. Must, must take back roads, as traffic heading north on 69 is already a nightmare. Yay for Rusk, as they already reconfigured the one & only red light in town to stay green for longer period of time for south/north traffic. But still, traffic is much heavier than usual for a town of 5,000.

I am reading… "Boundaries" & the Bible. Finally am in Jeremiah!

I am hoping… that Ike does not come through east TX as fosrecasted.

I am hearing… TV in background, fan whirring, hubby in kitchen.

Around the house… everything getting done to be prepared to live w/o electricity. When Rita came through we were w/o it for 5 days!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Well, I'm guessing Amanda is NOT coming this weekend as planned! Mainly to hunker down here at home: watch TV as long as we have electricity; play backgammon; go to bed early; maybe put extra photos into the binders. I have finally completed sorting them & categorizing the ones I hope to scrap. The ones w/no particular plans no go into a binder, in case I need them as extras in telling the stories. After a couple of years they'll be moved to cold storage.
